Our client, a leading charity in West London is seeking an ambitious and skilled Information Security Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who likes autonomy and variety in their job as no one day is the same! It is in a challenging environment with many different stakeholders to manage; there is support from a strong tech team so whilst technical knowledge of cyber tools is necessary, a hands on technical experience is desirable not mandatory. You will be inputting into security architecture review boards, change advisory boards and business change advisory boards on all matters of information and cyber security, therefore an expansive understanding of information security principles is required.

Your responsibilities in this role will be: 

  • To manage the information security of the information assets within the organisation; including creation, transfer, handling, storage, and disposal.
  • To know what protocols are in place (so a basic understanding of networks is required as well as electronic protection mechanisms). 
  • To facilitate penetration tests, vulnerability scans and liaison with security vendors to enhance the organisations existing and prospective suite of security tools. You will not be required to be an expert but have a strong enough understanding to facilitate, contribute and understand the applicable risks. 

Perhaps the most important aspect of the role is the ability and skill to manage and communicate to a variety of stakeholders who will reach out each day to discuss new business processes or technological solutions. That leaves a lot of day to day training and awareness, incident management, risk management and contribution to organisational strategic initiatives. This makes the role half reactive and half proactive which makes it very diverse day to day and the Information Security Manager is at the heart of everything. 

The most important skills required are:

  • The ability to communicate well both written and verbally
  • Manage stakeholders from junior level right up to C-level
  • Understanding of risk management
  • Understanding of incident management
  • Understanding of supply chain security
  • Deep understanding of information security and the ability to apply this to a number of business processes and tools
  • The ability to proactively drive action and projects forward 



This is a 3-5 years programme minimum so there is a big opportunity to learn and work on the areas you wish to develop to further your experience and career. There is a buy in for Information Security at board level, in fact the head of Information Security at the organisation chairs Information security forums for the entire sector which means there is a lot of support for courses and learning and development.
