Job Description

Our client is a constabulary based in Hampshire, looking to fill a police staff investigator role starting 26th Feb.

You will

  • Investigate criminal offences ensuring Record Management System (RMS) and other IT applications are fully updated.
  • Identify and interview suspects in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
  • Identify, preserve and present evidence as mandated in Law and Force Procedures.
  • Complete appropriate intelligence interviews ensuring that all information gained is submitted correctly.
  • Liaise with Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for pre-charge advice.
  • Prepare high quality evidential files for submission to CPS in agreed timescales.
  • Have an extensive knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) and ensure the rules are adhered to.
  • Interview victims of crime and witnesses fully complying with the ‘Victims Charter’.
  • Identify vulnerable persons and take appropriate measures when conducting interviews.
  • Attend criminal and coroners court in support of investigations and give evidence in accordance with legislation when required to do so.
  • Assist student and other constables on attachment with investigation, case file preparation and disclosure issues.
  • Provide an excellent service to victims by ensuring they form the core of any investigation and by keeping them updated regularly.
  • Assist in the development of less experienced colleagues as requested.

**MUST BE PIP2 ACCREDITED

EDUCATION:

Essential requirements

QCF Level 2, three to five GCSE’s including English and Mathematics at Grade C or higher or to have relevant work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a similar level.

A full manual driving licence

Desirable

A levels, BTEC National or equivalent qualification or work experience that proves that the post holder can work at a comparable level

EXPERIENCE

Essential

Twelve (12) months experience in evidence gathering A working knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice system. Excellent and evidenced report writing and communication skills e.g. the production of clear, concise and accurate records, letters and reports.

To be computer/keyboard literate and a competent keyboard user.

Desirable

Two years' investigative experience.

To have an understanding of data protection issues in order to ensure that information is handled and filed correctly. Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.

You will be required to work 37 hours a week. Contract Initially 3 months

09:00am - 17:30pm

Salary: £13.25
